Twitter now allows users to tip creators with Ethereum

Twitter announced on Wednesday it has added new payment options to its tip jar feature, including Ethereum.

Having launched the Bitcoin tipping feature through Strike last September, the company has since supported Bandcamp, Cash App, Chipper, Patreon, Razorpay, Wealthsimple Cash, Venmo, GoFundMe, and PicPay for donations. Now also added Paga, Barter by Flutterwave, Paytm, and the option to add Ethereum addresses.

Creators over the age of 18 can now receive ETH tips by enabling the tipping features of the platform and adding an Ethereum address to the dedicated section of their profile.

“We’re continuing to expand ways to get paid on Twitter which includes more choices for creators and fans who want to use crypto,” Johnny Winston, lead product manager of creator monetization at Twitter, told CoinDesk in a statement. “We’re excited to add the ability for anyone to add their ETH Address to Tips.”

Twitter in January rolled out a feature that will allow some users to use non-fungible tokens (NFTs) as their profile picture, as part of its push to stake out its place in the exploding digital collectibles craze.
