Minecraft To Require A Microsoft Account In Early 2021

Mojang has released an article on its blog and announced that Mojang accounts will need to be migrated to Microsoft in early 2021. In other words, Minecraft players will be required to have a Microsoft account in order to continue playing the game.

“Think of it as moving house; when you outgrow one place, you move on to the next. It involves a logistic effort, but once you’re settled in your new home, you realise you’d do it ten times over just for that extra room,” Mojang said in a blog post.

‘’Why? Think of it as moving house; when you outgrow one place, you move on to the next. It involves a logistic effort, but once you’re settled in your new home, you realize you’d do it ten times over just for that extra room. Except in our case, the extra room is all of these features, from which all Microsoft accounts will benefit’’

The company said that migrating to Microsoft will offer many advantages including increased security with two-factor authentication, improved parental controls, ability to connect all your PC Minecraft games to the same account and chat & invitation blocking.

Users who don’t migrate their Mojang accounts to Microsoft will be unable to play Minecraft in a several months. Mojang has created a Frequently Asked Questions page to help them migrate their accounts and also said it’ll send emails and share Youtube videos in the coming months to help them even more.
