Instagram is DOWN: users say their accounts have been suspended

Meta-owned social networking app Instagram is down in multiple countries as many users report their accounts have been suspended for no reason.

Some users also said that the number of their followers dropped, which is likely because of the accounts that have been taken down.

This is the second time a Meta-owned platform is having a major outage in less than a week. Last Thursday, messaging app WhatsApp also had a global outage which lasted nearly two hours.

The company has shared a statement on its Twitter account saying that they’re aware of the problem and working to fix it to make the app available again.

UPDATE: Instagram announced that it has fixed the bug and restored the service after nearly 7 hours of the major outage.
