Xsolla acquires Ludo to power in-game quests and web shop monetization for mobile developers

Game commerce platform Xsolla has announced its acquisition of community engagement startup Ludo, a move that underscores the company’s growing focus on integrating gamified social features with monetization strategies for mobile developers. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The acquisition centers around merging Ludo’s code-free questing technology into Xsolla’s existing Web Shop and Rewards platforms. This integration aims to give mobile developers the tools to drive player engagement and retention by tying in-game actions and community participation to external purchasing incentives—transforming how players interact with game ecosystems both inside and outside of the app.

Through Ludo’s Community Quests, developers can build engagement loops that connect gameplay to off-platform web shops. For example, players can be rewarded for completing in-game challenges, participating in Discord communities, or sharing achievements on social platforms. These actions can now be directly linked to exclusive rewards or purchases on web shops, creating a feedback loop that encourages repeat behavior and increases monetization.

This rollout comes at a time when platform rules in the U.S. are evolving, giving mobile developers more flexibility to link to external web shops from within their apps. The combined capabilities of Xsolla and Ludo allow for new monetization mechanics, such as one-tap access to specific bundles, localized payment options, and targeted offers based on real-time player behavior—all without increasing the development burden.

Xsolla emphasized that the expanded toolset built on Ludo’s technology will be data-driven and simple to implement, offering developers actionable insights to improve user acquisition, retention, and lifetime value. The tools are expected to help teams of all sizes, particularly those seeking to build deeper relationships with players while reducing reliance on traditional app store infrastructure.

As Xsolla integrates Ludo’s questing system into its broader rewards ecosystem, developers can expect a more robust solution for crafting loyalty programs, incentivizing community engagement, and boosting conversion rates at checkout.

The acquisition also signals Xsolla’s strategic investment in out-of-game experiences, aligning player behavior with commerce touchpoints to help mobile games grow revenue and maintain long-term engagement in an increasingly competitive market.
