What are Instagram Highlights?

Instagram continues to offer new features to its users every day. Of course, with each new feature, our use of the app continues to increase exponentially, and social media apps continue to be in the middle of our lives. We enjoy sharing our favorite photos on Instagram as stories or posts. But the things we share on the story side are automatically deleted after 24 hours. This is where the Highlights feature comes into play. Thanks to the Highlights feature, you can pin your desired story to your profile, even if it is deleted. 

Thanks to your “highlighted” stories positioned in ellipses just below your name and bio, your followers can constantly view your pinned stories.

How to Change Instagram Highlight Cover

While some users use the photos they took as the highlight cover, some users prefer to use special designs. But we are sure that there are quite a few people around you who use the Highlights feature. Even companies can pin certain information they want to pin to their Instagram profiles thanks to the Highlights feature. Without further ado, let’s move on to our guide on how to change Instagram Highlight cover.

Step #1: Go to your Instagram account.

Step #2: Click the profile button on the bottom right

Step #3: Tap on the Highlight cover you want to change and tap “Edit Highlight”. 

Step #4: Tap the “Edit Cover” button

Step #5: Tap the photo gallery icon and choose the photo you want to set as a cover. 

You can choose a cover photo from a Story in the Highlights section or upload one directly from your camera roll.

How to add photos to Instagram Highlights from camera roll? 

Step #1: Go to your Instagram account

Step #2: Click the profile button on the bottom right

Step #3: Tap on the Highlight you want to add photos and click on “Edit Highlight”.

How many Highlights can you have on Instagram?

One of the most asked questions is how many Highlights you can have on Instagram. You can add up to 100 photos or videos to your Instagram Highlights. There is no limit to the Instagram Highlights you can create.

How to put Highlights on Instagram without Story?

In order to add highlights on Instagram without posting a story, first you need to switch your account to Private. Then, you need to update your Story settings to  block everyone from seeing your story. After making these settings, share the Story, add it to the highlights, wait 24 hours and then restore the privacy settings so that your friends can see it.

Step #1: Go to Settings and switch your Instagram profile to Private
Step #2: Go to your Privacy Story Settings and prevent all users from seeing your Stories.
Step #3: Share the Story you want to add to Highlights.
Step #4: Add the Story to your Highlight
Step #5: Change your privacy settings back to normal after waiting 24 hours 

How to hide Instagram Highlights?

You cannot directly hide highlights from a user. However, when you hide your story from the users you don’t want from the Story settings, your highlights will be hidden automatically. Because your highlights are a lineup of your stories. Since they can’t see your stories, they naturally won’t be able to see them either.

Step #1: Go to “Settings” and tap “Privacy”.

Step #2:  Select “Story.”

Step #3: Tap “Hide Story From.”

Step #4: Choose or enter the names or select viewers who should not see your highlights.

How to archive Highlights on Instagram?

Because your highlights are a lineup of your stories, stories you create and share on Instagram are automatically saved to your Story Archive, so you don’t need to save them to your phone.

To turn the Story Archive on or off:

Step #1: Tap the profile icon or your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.

Step #2: Tap the more options icon in the top right, then tap Settings.

Step #3: Tap Privacy and then Story.

Step #4: Tap the switch on icon next to Archive Story.

How to change order of Highlights on Instagram?

Instagram currently does not offer a feature that allows users to directly change the order of Highlights. But instead, you can edit a particular Highlight by randomly adding a new Story to it. The highlight will then automatically be moved to the beginning of the line. Just don’t forget to remove the random story you added later.
