Instagram to bring branded content tools to Threads -source

While Meta has yet to start experimenting advertising on its rising Twitter-like microblogging app Threads, Instagram is reportedly getting ready to bring its branded content tools to the new platform to enable marketers to team up with influencers.

Launched on July 6, Meta’s Threads app managed to reach 10 million sign-ups within just seven hours, and surpassed 100 million users in its fifth day, which was yesterday.

While Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that they would only start monetizing Threads once it surpasses 1 billion users, Threads’ user count continues to grow with each passing day, largely thanks to the ability to sign-up to it via Instagram credentials, and Twitter’s new limits on the number of tweets users can view a day which led many users to start looking for Twitter alternatives. If the current trend continues, it may not take long for the social media giant to reach its target of hitting 1 billion users.

Despite the lack of advertising and many basic features like hashtags, searching for keywords, and chronological feeds, the first 100 million that joined Threads also include various well-known brands.

According to a source familiar with the matter who spoke to Axios, Instagram is now working on bringing its branded content tools to the newly launched platform as soon as possible, so that marketers can team up with influencers on paid partnerships.

Meta hasn’t shared a statement about Axios’ report.
