Instagram starts testing post-scheduling feature

Social media platform Instagram has started testing a new scheduling feature for posts and reels that could save users the hassle of using third-party tools.

A screenshot of the tool was shared by a Twitter user @WFBrother on Tuesday. Speaking to TechCrunch, a representative for the social media giant confirmed the launch of the tests, saying: “We are testing the ability to schedule content with a percentage of our global community’’. However, the spokesperson didn’t provide any further details.

IG users who currently have access to the new tool are now able to schedule their posts by navigating to the Advanced Settings section on the post sharing screen and turning on the ”Schedule this post’’ setting.

Once they schedule a post after choosing a time and a date, Instagram also shows them all of their scheduled posts under the ‘’Scheduled Posts’’ section which can be accessible from the hamburger menu. From there, users can also reschedule or edit their posts.

In fact, Meta already offers the ability to schedule IG posts through its Facebook Creator Studio for over 2 years now. However, the new feature could be much handier for those that want to do so directly from the main Instagram app.

While Instagram is still testing the tool, Twitter launched its tweet-scheduling feature back in May 2020.
