Activision Blizzard recently held a Q4 2020 earnings call and also shared its annual plans at the meeting. The company’s CFO, Dennis Durkin, confirmed that a new Call of Duty title will be released before the end of this year.
After the success of the free-to-play Call of Duty: Warzone, which was released last year, it was questioned whether a new title will be added to the franchise. Looks like Activision has no intention of breaking the tradition of “launching a new title every year” in 2021 as well.
Although Activision confirmed during the meeting that the new Call of Duty game will arrive later this year, no details about the new title were revealed.
Activision’s strategy of releasing a new Call of Duty title every year brings huge gains to the company. So much so that the company said that the revenues from Call of Duty in 2020 doubled compared to the previous year. It is also stated that around 128 million people play Call of Duty every month.
