Gearbox Entertainment acquires Captured Dimensions

American video game developer and publisher Gearbox Entertainment announced that it has acquired Captured Dimensions, a Texas-based mobile 3D scanning company. Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.

Founded in October 2012, Captured Dimensions offers 3D capture, scanning, and reconstruction services. It has worked with many big names in the industry including Netflix, 20th Century FOX, Lionsgate and Sony Pictures, and worked on various games from Electronic Arts and 2K Games. 

In a statement, Sean Haran, Gearbox Entertainment’s Chief Business Officer, said: “We’ve had the pleasure of working with Jordan and his team at Captured Dimensions on several projects over the years – this deal brings a wealth of talent into the Gearbox family in several key areas, and I’m excited to welcome them. This acquisition brings incredible technology into the fold for future projects and enables further expansion of offerings to strategic partners across multiple business units.

Captured Dimensions’ President and Founder Jordan Williams commented: “This merger gives us an incredible runway for growth and opportunity. Following the acquisition, Williams will continue his role as the head of Captured Dimensions and report to Gearbox’s founder and CEO Randy Pitchford.
