Apple announced a deadline of December 8, 2020 for app developers to submit their app’s privacy information to App Store Connect.
This information will be required to submit new apps and app updates to the App Store to give customers better understanding of the data types apps may collect and “whether that data is linked to them or used to track them”. It will include the data transmitted off the device for a use of a third-party partner or the app developer as well as the data that app developers collect themselves.
Customers will see the privacy information on each app’s product page. Apple says, “Later this year, the App Store will help users understand an app’s privacy practices before they download the app on any Apple platform.”
Apple first announced this change around two months ago, following the announcement of the delay of the controversial privacy feature in iOS 14 that requires developers to ask users for permission to track them and to summarize their privacy information.
