Japanese video game company Bandai Namco’s hit mobile title Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle has surpassed $3 billion in global player spending, according to Sensor Tower.
The popular game was first launched in January 2015 and surpassed $2 billion in player spending in November 2019. It took the game 20 months to earn another $1 billion and join the $3 billion club which also includes Supercell’s Clash Royale and NCSoft’s Lineage.

According to Sensor Tower, Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle generated $260.4 million in the first half of 2021 becoming the third top grossing title in the Puzzle RPG category.
Mixi’s Monster Strike took the lead while GungHo’s Puzzle & Dragons ranked No.2.
In addition, it was followed by Small Giant Games’ Empires & Puzzles at No. 4 and 37Games’ Puzzles & Survival at No. 5.
Sensor Tower notes that the game usually sees an upward trend in player spending when it organizes anniversary celebrations and special in-game events.

The data shows that Japan is currently the No.1 revenue generating market for the game where it earned $1.8 billion from player spending so far. It’s followed by the US at No.2 and France at No.3.
In addition, Apple’s App Store accounts for 51.6% of all the player spending generated so far while Google Play Store accounts for 48.4%.
67.4 million global downloads
Sensor Tower also found that Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle has generated approximately 67.4 million global downloads so far since its launch in 2015.
Similarly, Japan is the No.1 country with over 11.5 million downloads, followed by the US at No.2 and Brazil at No.3.
Meanwhile, Google Play Store accounts for nearly 76% of the total downloads generated so far while Apple’s App Store accounts for only 24%.
