Facebook to allow IG creators to earn money from product recommendations

Facebook CEO and Founder Mark Zuckerberg announced Tuesday that the company will build a marketplace to connect influencers with brands and new monetization features for creators to allow them to make money from the sales of the products that they recommend.

During an Instagram live broadcast with Adam Mosseri, the Head of Instagram, Zuckerberg also announced that the company will launch ‘’Creator Shops’’ which will allow Instagram creators to list their favorite products and sell them directly through their profiles.

That’s been especially important in the last year. A lot of physical stores have had to close during lockdowns, but online stays open,” said Zuckerberg. “It can be a more personalized and convenient experience.

The new monetization features are a part of Facebook’s efforts to keep up with its rivals. Last week, the company announced its Clubhouse-like voice chat product Live Audio Rooms and a new feature named Stars which will allow users to support creators with donations, which is very similar to Twitter’s Tip Jar feature for Spaces
