China removes TripAdvisor and 104 other apps from app stores

The Cyberspace Administration of China said in a statement on Tuesday that 105 apps including popular travel app TripAdvisor have been removed from app stores due to their content “related to pornography, prostitution, gambling and violence.”

According to the statement, China started the campaign on November 5th in response to strong reaction from the general public.

The 105 apps that have been removed from the app stores violated one or more of three cyber laws, the authorities said. The removals and regulations will continue in the upcoming weeks.
