Apple reportedly developing a new App Store-like app as a dedicated gaming hub

As Apple continues to expand its influence in the gaming sector, the tech giant is reportedly working on a new app, specifically designed for gamers. According to 9to5Mac, this app will combine features from both the App Store and Game Center, offering a unique space exclusively for gaming content. This new platform is set to enhance the gaming experience for iOS users, creating an all-in-one hub where players can access, manage, and discover new games.

Sources close to the matter reveal that Apple’s upcoming app will feature a multi-tab layout, including a “Play Now” section, which will spotlight editorial content, game recommendations, and personalized suggestions. Users will also have access to their game library, friend lists, challenges, leaderboards, and achievements, all from one centralized location. Unlike Apple Arcade, which focuses on a subscription-based gaming model, this new app will integrate a broader spectrum of games from both the App Store and Apple Arcade.

The app will be much more than just a store; it will be a community-oriented platform where gamers can stay connected with friends, monitor their progress, and engage in special gaming events. Apple is reportedly exploring ways to integrate FaceTime and iMessage features into the app, aiming to streamline communication between players.

Although it’s unclear when the app will be officially introduced, industry speculation suggests it could be part of a future iOS 18 update or even delayed until iOS 19.
