More than 46 million players have pre-registered for Call of Duty: Mobile in China

Reported by Daniel Ahmad, a Senior Analyst at Niko Partners, Call of Duty: Mobile has surpassed 46 million pre-registrations in China. Ahmad says the popular mobile shooting game is getting closer to its financial launch in Mainland China, following a final test for Android users on October 20.

“The game is a deep collaboration between Tencent’s TiMi studios, the developer, and Activision Blizzard, the IP holder,” said Daniel Ahmad. The China version of the game has differences from the other local versions of it because of the Chinese government requests. The game will be approved by the Chinese government to be released on August 6.

Last month Activision removed Tiananmen Square footage in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War trailer, following its ban in China.

In the second quarter of 2020, Call of Duty Mobile saw sequential quarterly growth in engagement and player investment, benefiting from both shelter-in-place and updates for seasonal content and gameplay improvements. The game released three seasons in Q2 and each generated more net bookings per day than the prior.

After Fortnite’s removal from the app stores, Call of Duty: Mobile saw an increase of 69% in revenue in the United States week-on-week in the seven days following the removal of Fortnite.
