Apple expands App Store tools for developers, phases out promo codes by 2026

Apple has introduced a series of new App Store features aimed at giving developers more flexibility in app submission, customization, and promotional options. The updates, announced on Apple’s Developer website, include expanded review submission options, a major increase in the number of custom product pages, and the introduction of offer codes for all In-App Purchase types. The company also confirmed that traditional promo codes will be discontinued in 2026.

Under the new submission process, developers can now send additional items to App Review even when an existing version of their app is still under review. This change allows developers to independently submit In-App Events, Game Center features such as leaderboards or achievements, and critical bug-fix updates without waiting for the main app submission to be completed.

Apple has also expanded its marketing tools by doubling the number of custom product pages developers can create. Developers can now publish up to 70 custom pages simultaneously, each featuring unique screenshots, videos, and promotional text. For the first time, these pages can include their own keywords, making them individually searchable within the App Store.

In a broader update to In-App Purchase management, Apple is extending offer codes to every purchase type — including consumable, non-consumable, and non-renewing subscriptions, as well as auto-renewable subscriptions that end after a promotional period. These offer codes allow developers to provide time-limited discounts or free content directly within apps.

As part of this shift, Apple plans to retire traditional promo codes for In-App Purchases by March 26, 2026. Developers will no longer be able to generate new promo codes after that date, though existing codes will remain valid until expiration. Promo codes will still be available for distributing free app downloads.
