In 2021, the gaming industry reached $38 billion across 299 deals in mergers and acquisitions, while VCs and strategics invested an unprecedented $13 billion in private companies through 718 deals.
Mobile was the biggest segment in M&A deal value in 2021, with $15.5 billion across 77 deals.
Embracer Group became the key acquirer of 2021 with 22 deals, followed by Tencent with 16 deals.
