Social media giant Meta is getting ready to reveal its decision on whether it will allow former U.S. President Donald Trump to return to Facebook and Instagram, as reported by the Financial Times.
To come to a decision, Meta has formed a group that includes members from its public policy and communications teams, and also the content policy team, according to the report.
The former president was banned from Facebook and Instagram in May 2021, ‘’following his praise for people engaged in violence at the Capitol on January 6’’. A month later, Meta said his accounts would remain suspended for two years, until January 7, 2023.
While there are only five days left to that date, a person familiar with the matter told the FT that the decision would be announced later this month.
Meanwhile, Trump was also banned from Twitter on January 8, 2021 ‘’due to the risk of further incitement of violence.’’ However, his account was reinstalled after Twitter’s new CEO Elon Musk ran a poll asking users if he should be allowed to return and 51.8% respondents said ‘’Yes’’.

Trump hasn’t returned to Twitter although the suspension was lifted. “I don’t see any reason for it,” he said when asked if he would do so.
