Consumers spent 2.5 billion hours on Android in H1 2023, up 16% Y/Y

Consumers spent more than 2.5 billion hours on Android for the first time in the first half of 2023, up 4% from H2 2022 and 16% from the same period last year.

That’s according to new data from data.ai, which also recently revealed that global in-app consumer spending reached a record-breaking $67.5 billion in H1 2023, up 5.3% Y/Y, suggesting a strong bounce-back in the mobile industry.

The app analytics company said in its latest report that considering the current trend, global time spent on Android is expected to surpass 5 billion hours in 2023.

Top markets by time spent on Android in H1 2023

According to the report, the top 3 markets by time spent on Android were all in the Asia-Pacific region (APAC) in the first half of 2023. India topped the list with a 26% increase from H1 2021, followed by China (+13%), Indonesia (+16%), Mexico (+14%) and Thailand (+18%) respectively. Time spent on Android in the United States, on the other hand, grew by merely 1% in the last two years.
