Co-founders Paul Davison and Rohan Seth announced that social audio app Clubhouse is now out of beta so that it is open to everyone.
A spokesperson confirmed that there are around 10 million people currently on the waitlist and they will be added to the previously invite-only app over time.
“The invite system has been an important part of our early history,” the company said in a blog post. “By adding people in waves, welcoming new faces each week in our Wednesday Orientations, and talking with the community each Sunday in Town Hall, we’ve been able to grow Clubhouse in a measured way, and keep things from breaking as we’ve scaled.”

After 16 never-boring months of building, we’re thrilled to share that Clubhouse is now out of beta, open to everyone, and ready to begin the next chapter! pic.twitter.com/vC1g2KfhyQ
Along with the news, Clubhouse showcased a new logo, saying that “After 16 months, a company should probably have a logo too.”
Following the intense interest Clubhouse caught in a short time, social media giants started to launch social audio products and features one after another, such as Spotify Greenroom, Discord Stage Channels, Facebook Live Audio Rooms, Reddit Talk, and Twitter Spaces.
“We suspect there will be many more ups and downs as we scale, and competition from the large networks will be fierce. But we believe the future is created by optimists, and we’re excited to build something new on the Internet.” Clubhouse said.
During June, Some Clubhouse users encountered a ‘’backchannel’’ screen in the popular app which suggests that the company might be working on a direct messaging chat feature.
