Series Entertainment has announced its acquisition of Pixelberry Studios, a mobile game developer renowned for its story-driven, episodic titles. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Series Entertainment, a pioneer in utilizing generative AI to create immersive gaming experiences, views this acquisition as a crucial step in expanding its studio network. In recent news, Series Entertainment introduced the proprietary Rho Engine, heralded as the world’s first AI-native, multimodal full-stack game creation platform.
Pixelberry will play a central role in Series Entertainment’s strategy to build a diverse portfolio of games. By integrating Series’ cutting-edge technology, Pixelberry is poised to enhance its flagship game, Choices, with larger narratives, new interactive features, and improved story quality.
“Pixelberry has been a category leader in the interactive fiction genre,” said Pany Haritatos, co-founder and CEO, Series Entertainment. “We love story-based games and Choices has long been a leader in the genre. With our cutting-edge technology, we will be able to take Choices to the next level, with bigger books, new interactive features, and ever-improving story quality, all designed to deliver the things the Choices community wants.”
Series Entertainment, supported by leading investors including A16z and Bitkraft, is actively developing several other games, with further announcements expected later this year.
The Pixelberry team expressed their enthusiasm for the acquisition, stating, “It is an exciting new chapter for our studio and we look forward to empowering our creative teams through the Series Entertainment technology, which will allow us to bring to life a lot of our top fan requests, such as genre diversity, multiple love interests, main character customization, and more intricate story branches.”
