Following the ban of TikTok in India which was its biggest overseas market, first Instagram released its Reels feature in the country and now Youtube is getting ready to roll out an early beta version of its TikTok-like feature dubbed ‘Youtube Shorts’ which will allow users to create 15-second videos with music in the background.
The company first announced the upcoming short video feature several months ago in April and just released a news article named ‘’Building YouTube Shorts, a new way to watch & create on YouTube’’ confirming that the TikTok rival feature is arriving in India over the next few days and they will ‘’add more features and expand to more countries in the coming months’’.
Over the next few days in India, we’re launching an early beta of Shorts with a handful of new creation tools to test this out. This is an early version of the product, but we’re releasing it now to bring you — our global community of users, creators and artists — on our journey with us as we build and improve Shorts.
Youtube Shorts will allow users to ‘‘express’’ themselves with videos up to 15 seconds, using a multi segment camera and a music picker which has over 100,000 tracks as told by a Youtube spokesperson.
Users also will be able to adjust video speed and a timer & countdown feature will make it easier for them to create Shorts.
YouTube Shorts beta is here – a new way to watch and create short, vertical videos. Discover them on the Shorts shelf on the YouTube app homepage. Ready to create? Soon, we will start rolling out new creation tools in the YouTube app.https://t.co/20KaFSDgJf pic.twitter.com/t5JvNvQv4C
