Sensor Tower has taken a significant step in broadening its gaming intelligence capabilities by acquiring Video Game Insights (VGI), a platform specializing in PC and console game performance data. This move enables Sensor Tower to offer a unified view of the gaming industry, spanning mobile, PC, and console, allowing developers and publishers to track performance across multiple platforms with greater accuracy.
Video Game Insights has established itself as a key source of competitive intelligence for PC and console games, particularly through its analysis of Steam, the dominant digital distribution platform for PC titles. More recently, VGI extended its coverage to include performance insights for Xbox and PlayStation, giving users a deeper understanding of trends across major gaming ecosystems.
With this integration, Sensor Tower’s customers can now leverage detailed performance benchmarks, market trends, and player engagement data across all major gaming platforms. The combined expertise of both companies aims to provide game developers and publishers with the tools needed to track competitors, analyze player behavior, and optimize acquisition and retention strategies.
VGI currently monitors over 150,000 titles on Steam, offering key insights into wishlist activity, sales figures, revenue trends, and player engagement. These metrics allow game developers to assess a title’s potential success even before launch, empowering them to make informed decisions that drive growth. By incorporating VGI’s analytics into its existing suite of mobile gaming and digital advertising intelligence, Sensor Tower is positioning itself as a comprehensive source for cross-platform gaming data.
Following the acquisition, Video Game Insights will now operate as “Video Game Insights by Sensor Tower.”
