China To Generate $21 Billion Mobile Games Revenue This Year

For the past few months, mobile gaming app usage has been shooting up as billions of people are searching for ways to entertain themselves while under COVID-19 lockdowns. According to GoldenCasinoNews, China is expected to generate $21 billion in mobile games revenue this year. 

The mobile gaming industry keeps growing every day and the Coronavirus Pandemic, which has been going on since December 2019, has greatly increased the speed of this growth. 

There is no doubt that one of the countries that observed the biggest growth is China, where the first Covid-19 case was reported. According to the latest data shared by GoldenCasinoNews, China is expected to generate 40% of the global mobile games revenue in 2020, with $21 billion. 

According to Statista, China’s revenue was $14.9 billion back in 2017, $16.1 billion in 2018 and $18 billion in 2019. Now, the country is expected to experience a 16.5% year-on-year growth rate. 

In addition, the number of Chinese gamers is also expected to reach 517.4 million by the end of this year. 

Major popularity of Chinese gamers (82%) prefer mobile phones in order to play games while personal computers are the second most popular devices with %59. 

One-third of these gamers play games on a daily basis and while another %33 play 3 to 6 days every week.
