Unity has unveiled a new feature for its game engine that enables developers to manage digital stores, payments, and in-game catalogs across multiple platforms from a single dashboard — marking the company’s move into direct-to-consumer (DTC) commerce.
The new system, now available in limited early access, allows developers to oversee pricing, promotions, and live operations across mobile app stores, web, and PC without the need to rely on platform-specific SDKs or payment systems. Unity said the update aims to reduce fragmentation and complexity in monetization workflows, which have traditionally required separate integrations for each platform.
According to Unity, the majority of global in-app purchase transactions already occur in games developed on its engine. By offering unified commerce management, the company seeks to provide a single, flexible tool to streamline operations and optimize revenue performance.
“The vast majority of games-related IAP transactions happen inside games made with Unity,” said Unity president and CEO Matt Bromberg. “Soon developers will have a single place to manage and optimize their entire digital catalog across all platforms and devices.”
As part of the rollout, Unity has partnered with Stripe, which will handle global payments, fraud protection, disputes, and taxes. The integration will also enable developers to use Stripe’s merchant-of-record solution and app-to-web payments for higher conversion rates and lower costs.
The company is currently testing the feature with select developers to ensure scalability before opening it to wider use. Interested developers can sign up for early access as Unity prepares for a full release in the coming months.
The announcement comes as Unity continues to expand its ecosystem beyond engine development. Last month, the company established an AI Council to accelerate innovation across its product portfolio and signed a memorandum of understanding with Savvy Games Group to boost opportunities for developers in Saudi Arabia.
