Truecaller, the widely popular caller identification and spam-blocking app, has reached a significant milestone, surpassing 450 million monthly active users. The Swedish-based company announced that it added 50 million users over the past ten months, with 15.5 million joining since the beginning of 2025. The platform, which started as a simple caller ID service, has grown into a comprehensive communication tool serving users worldwide.
India remains Truecaller’s largest market, fueling much of its growth. Recognizing the country’s strategic importance, the company recently appointed Rishit Jhunjhunwala as its new CEO. Previously serving as Chief Product Officer and Managing Director for India operations, Jhunjhunwala takes the helm following the decision of the company’s co-founders to step away from daily operations. However, India’s telecom department’s push for carrier-based caller ID services may present future challenges for Truecaller’s dominance in the region.
Despite potential hurdles in India, Truecaller is experiencing rapid growth in other markets. The company has reported substantial user expansion in Latin America, South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, Malaysia, and the United States. This surge underscores the increasing global demand for secure communication tools that help users manage spam and verify contacts. Truecaller’s commitment to enhancing safety goes beyond caller ID, as the company continues to introduce features aimed at protecting users before, during, and after calls or messages.
The company’s financial performance reflects its growing user base. In Q4 2024, Truecaller maintained an average of nearly 430 million monthly active users and ended the quarter with 434.5 million. The positive momentum carried into 2025, with net sales increasing by 23% and profit after tax climbing 29% year-over-year. Since the start of 2025, Truecaller’s stock has risen more than 33%, signaling investor confidence in its expansion strategy.
To maintain its competitive edge, Truecaller has been continuously upgrading its services. Recent updates improved its iOS functionality, addressing previous limitations imposed by Apple’s operating system. The company has also diversified its offerings, introducing AI-powered call screening, call recording, and transcription features, along with enhancements to its SMS and chat services. These innovations position Truecaller as more than just a caller ID app, reinforcing its role as a comprehensive communication platform.
