Omega Strikers-maker Odyssey Interactive raises $19M Series A

Odyssey Interactive, a Canadian independent game studio behind the rising competitive game Omega Strikers, announced that it has raised $19 million in a Series A funding round to bring the game to mobile devices and game consoles.

The startup said in a press release that the round was led by Makers Fund and saw participation from Anthos Capital, The Mini Fund, Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), and Mitch Lasky.

Odyssey Interactive was founded by David Capurro, Dax Andrus, Eric Lawless and Richard Henkel, who previously worked at prominent companies including Riot Games and Netflix, and gained experiences working on popular titles including League of Legends.

The studio launched the PC open-beta of its very first title Omega Strikers in September, which currently has around seven thousand reviews on Steam, with 87% of them being positive. 

The startup said on Friday that it plans to use the funding money to expand its team of developers, get ready for the full launch of Omega Striker in February next year, and make the title available to mobile and console players.

In addition, it also announced that it’d host a Halloween event this week and introduce new characters, or ‘’Strikers’’ in its words, over the next two months.

Our goal as a dev team has always been to inspire and ignite the competitive spirit of players, and we believe we can hit that aspirational height by integrating their feedback from the beta, and by doubling down on launch.”
