US President Donald Trump said on Thursday that he’s not going to extend the September 15 deadline for the China based internet company ByteDance to sell its controversial short video app TikTok.
Earlier last month, Donald Trump gave Microsoft 45 days to acquire Chinese short video app TikTok and the two companies have been reportedly in talks about the acquisition since then.
As we mentioned in a previous article, Microsoft’s worth increased by $77 billion after confirming its plans about the acquisition. And last week, Walmart announced that it is making a joint bid with Microsoft for the US operations of TikTok. However, no official announcement has yet been made regarding the completion of the purchase.
Although TikTok fired back at the Trump Administration by filing a lawsuit over the executive order, there’s not much time left for the September 15 deadline and Donald Trump just told reporters that he’s not going to extend it.
“We’ll see what happens. It’ll either be closed up or they’ll sell it’’ he said, before leaving for Michigan. ‘’There’ll be no extension of the TikTok deadline.’’
