Facebook expands monetization opportunities with Stories integration

Facebook is enhancing its creator monetization program by integrating Facebook Stories, providing content creators with another revenue stream within the platform. This latest update underscores the company’s ongoing commitment to supporting digital creators and diversifying income opportunities within its ecosystem.

In an effort to simplify earnings potential, Facebook previously consolidated its in-stream ads and performance bonus programs into a single framework. This move enabled creators to monetize various content formats—videos, Reels, photos, and text posts—through a unified program. Now, with the addition of Stories, Facebook is further expanding monetization options, allowing creators to generate revenue seamlessly from their short-lived content.

Facebook’s monetization for Stories follows a performance-based model, which means that earnings are tied to content engagement rather than direct ad placements. This shift, initially introduced last year, moves away from revenue-sharing models that relied on ad loads and viewership patterns beyond a creator’s control. Instead, creators now earn based on the reach and engagement of their content, making it easier to monetize popular posts without depending on ad frequency or placement.

According to Facebook, creators already enrolled in its monetization program will automatically be eligible to earn from Stories, with no additional setup required. Those who are not yet part of the program can apply to join and unlock potential earnings from their content.
