Google says Gemini tops 750 million monthly users as AI becomes core to Alphabet growth

Google’s Gemini app has crossed 750 million monthly active users, marking another step in the rapid mainstream adoption of consumer-facing AI tools, according to Alphabet’s fourth-quarter 2025 earnings release. The figure represents a sharp increase from the 650 million monthly users reported in the previous quarter, underscoring accelerating usage across Google’s AI ecosystem.

The latest disclosure places Gemini ahead of Meta AI, which has reported close to 500 million monthly users, though it still trails ChatGPT, which was estimated to be approaching 810 million monthly active users by the end of 2025. The growing gap between leading AI assistants highlights how quickly the market is consolidating around a small number of large-scale platforms.

Gemini’s recent growth coincides with the rollout of Gemini 3, Google’s newest flagship model, which the company positions as its most advanced iteration to date. Executives pointed to the upgrade as a key factor behind increased engagement, particularly as Gemini is more deeply integrated into Google products and offered through multiple access points, including the standalone app and APIs.

During the earnings call, Google emphasized a dual approach focused on both free access and paid subscriptions. A lower-priced Google AI Plus plan, launched at $7.99 per month, is intended to broaden adoption among more price-sensitive users. Because the plan launched late in the quarter, its impact is not yet reflected in the reported figures.

Gemini’s expansion is part of a wider AI-driven shift across Alphabet’s business. The company reported more than $400 billion in annual revenue for the first time, attributing a growing share of demand to AI-powered products and services. Google also highlighted rising usage across Search, where AI features are being positioned as a driver of incremental queries rather than a replacement for traditional behavior.
