Australia-based linking platform Linktree said on Tuesday that it has partnered with online payment giant PayPal for the global expansion of its ‘’Commerce Links’’ tools.
Launched in March this year, Commercial Links allow Linktree users to receive payments from visitors directly on their Linktree profile.
There are two types of Commercial Links which are ‘Support Me Links’ and ‘Request Links’. While the first one can be used for receiving donations, the latter allows users to receive payments for product and service purchases.
With the company’s latest partnership with PayPal, the tools are now available for social media creators in more than 200 countries where PayPal operates.
“As the creator economy grows, creators want new ways to collect payments and support from their audience with as little friction as possible,” said Linktree co-founder and CEO Alex Zaccaria in the company’s press release. “We are excited to be collaborating with PayPal to further expand our solutions to our users globally and enable them to further manage and monetize their digital presence.”
Founded in 2016 by Alex Zaccaria, Anthony Zaccaria and Nick Humphreys, Linktree is currently used by more than 16 million active users including Facebook, TikTok, HBO, Comedy Central, Red Bull, Selena Gomez, Alicia Keys, Jessica Alba and more.
Earlier in March, the company raised $45 million in Series B funding led by Index Ventures. Last week, the company announced the acquisition of automated music link aggregation platform Songlink/Odesli for its new ‘Music Links’ feature.
