Android 12 includes the biggest design change in Android history

Google announced the latest beta version of Android 12 yesterday at its Google I/O developer conference. It ‘’includes the biggest design change in Android’s history’’ said Sameer Samat, VP of Product Management at Android and Google Play.

The news comes as the company announces that the number of active Android users around the world has now surpassed 3 billion.

Android 12’s new Material You-inspired design includes many changes, from colors to shapes, light and motion, aimed to help Android users to gain more control over their phones and personalize their devices with redesigned widgets and custom colors.

The company also announced that, for Android 12, they’ve made important performance improvements to help apps launch much faster and smoother and enable developers to provide richer user experience.

‘’We reduced the CPU time needed for core system services by 22%, so devices will be faster and more responsive. We also improved Android’s power efficiency by reducing the use of big cores by the system server by 15% to help devices run longer before needing to charge.’’
