Sensor Tower has announced the acquisition of Playliner, a Live Operations (Live Ops) analytics platform for mobile games, in a move that significantly expands the company’s reach into the mobile gaming ecosystem. The deal—terms of which were not disclosed—marks Sensor Tower’s second acquisition this year, following its earlier purchase of Video Game Insights to enhance cross-platform analytics, including PC and console.
Playliner, founded in Finland, specializes in tracking and analyzing Live Ops—ongoing updates, events, and feature rollouts in mobile games that sustain player engagement and drive monetization. Its data tools offer insights into update cadences, monetization strategies, and user interaction trends, which are vital for companies aiming to maintain long-term game success.
According to Sensor Tower, Live Ops plays an increasingly critical role in mobile gaming, now accounting for over 50% of consumer spending on in-app purchases in evergreen titles. Games such as Clash of Clans and Candy Crush rely heavily on these continuous updates to retain players and generate recurring revenue.
“With this acquisition, we’re strengthening our ability to provide comprehensive analytics from pre-launch planning to post-launch engagement,” said Oliver Yeh, CEO of Sensor Tower. “The addition of Playliner’s Live Ops data allows us to deliver deeper insights not only for gaming publishers but also for non-gaming apps adopting similar engagement tactics.”
Kirill Razumovskiy, CEO and founder of Playliner, noted that the integration will allow the combined platform to offer broader intelligence to developers navigating the evolving mobile gaming market. “By joining Sensor Tower, we aim to give publishers a more complete view of the strategies behind successful titles,” he said.
Major players in the mobile space such as Applovin, Playtika, and Playrix already rely on Playliner’s data to shape their product strategies. The acquisition positions Sensor Tower to become a more central tool in game performance benchmarking and operational decision-making.
As mobile gaming continues to grow within a digital economy projected to exceed $250 billion in consumer spend, Sensor Tower’s latest acquisition signals a continued investment in capturing the metrics that drive long-term app engagement and monetization.
