Reddit has rolled out a new AI-powered advertising product called Max Campaigns, marking its latest move to automate media buying and performance optimization on the platform. The campaign type, now available in beta, is designed to predict the value of individual ad impressions and dynamically adjust delivery to improve outcomes for advertisers.
Max Campaigns function as Reddit’s equivalent to automated performance products offered by major platforms, using machine learning to handle targeting, creative selection, placements, and budget allocation in real time. According to Reddit, the system evaluates a broad set of signals across user behavior and community activity to determine which audiences are most likely to engage or convert, while still allowing advertisers to apply strategic controls.
The company says the product has been tested in alpha with more than 600 advertisers across multiple industries and company sizes. In early testing, Reddit reports lower acquisition costs and higher engagement compared with advertisers’ standard campaigns. One example cited showed a double-digit reduction in cost per click and an increase in total clicks without manual optimization during the campaign period. Across broader split tests, Reddit says advertisers saw lower CPAs and higher conversion volumes on average.
Beyond automation, Reddit is positioning Max Campaigns as a more transparent alternative to existing “black box” AI ad products. The campaign type introduces a new reporting feature called Top Audience Personas, which groups users exposed to an ad into AI-generated personas based on interests and behavior. Advertisers can see which personas are engaging most with a campaign and what topics those groups are currently interacting with on Reddit.
These insights are built using Reddit Community Intelligence, which analyzes signals from more than 23 billion posts and comments to structure audience data. Reddit says this approach is intended to give advertisers clearer visibility into who is responding to automated campaigns, rather than limiting reporting to performance metrics alone.
Max Campaigns also streamline campaign setup, reducing the number of steps required to launch and manage ads. Advertisers can opt into AI-assisted creative tools, including headline suggestions based on Reddit-specific language and automated image formatting for in-feed placements. Reddit has also confirmed plans to add AI-based video cropping to simplify importing creative from other platforms.
The launch comes as Reddit continues to grow its advertising business. The company reported a 19% year-over-year increase in daily active users in Q3 2025, alongside more than a doubling of ad conversions over the same period. Reddit says Max Campaigns will initially be available for traffic and conversion objectives to a limited group of advertisers, with broader access planned in the coming months.
