Google I/O 2025 officially kicks off today, May 20, with the main keynote led by CEO Sundar Pichai beginning at 10 a.m. PT (5 p.m. UTC). As in previous years, the event is closed to the public but will be livestreamed globally.
Where to Watch the Keynote Live
You can watch the Google I/O 2025 keynote through two main platforms:
- YouTube: The keynote is being streamed live on Google’s official YouTube channel.
- Google I/O Website: The event can also be accessed at io.google, which hosts the livestream with interactive features and an event schedule.
Both platforms are powered by YouTube, so viewers can expect the same stream regardless of which link they use. A countdown precedes the start of the event, and American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation is available for accessibility.
What to Expect During the Keynote
Google is placing a strong focus on artificial intelligence during this year’s keynote. The company is unveiling updates to its Gemini AI models, including Gemini 2.5 Pro, alongside AI-powered features like AI Overviews and the introduction of an AI Mode for Google Search.
Android 16, previously previewed in last week’s pre-recorded Android Show, will be further detailed. Expect insights into Material 3 Expressive, the revamped Find Hub app, and expanded Gemini integration across Android platforms.
Additionally, Google is expected to highlight its extended reality (XR) initiatives, including demos of its Android XR smart glasses, part of the evolving Project Moohan.
Additional Sessions and Developer Content
Beyond the main keynote, a developer-focused keynote will stream at 1:30 p.m. PT, diving deeper into technical announcements. The two-day event also includes multiple technical sessions, code labs, and demos available through the I/O portal.
