Popular online game creation platform owner Roblox has acquired Toronto-based TriplePlay, which provides gamified virtual events solutions to companies. The financial terms of the acquisition weren’t disclosed.
TriplePlay, formerly known as Lobby, was founded by Mark Hlady and Yuri Takhteyev in 2020 to strengthen communication between the employees of businesses that switched to remote or hybrid work during the pandemic, with its gamified virtual events. It has worked with clients including Deloitte, KPMG, Telus, Certn and HiMama.
The company raised $1,000,000 last year from investors including Goodwater Capital, N49P, and Box One, and an undisclosed amount from True Capital Management earlier this year.
TriplePlay announced the acquisition on its website, adding: ”Roblox’s vision is to reimagine the way people come together to connect, create and express themselves through immersive, interactive shared experiences. We share this vision. At Roblox, our team will help deliver an incredible immersive experience to Roblox’s 58 million plus daily active users on an expanding variety of platforms and operating systems.”
The company said all user data will be deleted and users won’t be able to access the platform starting September 30th, 2022.
