Google is introducing additional AI-powered shopping tools designed to enhance online retail experiences. These updates focus on virtual try-ons for makeup and clothing, as well as AI-assisted product searches that generate specific item depictions based on user descriptions.
AI-Powered Makeup Try-On
Google’s latest expansion in virtual try-on capabilities includes a feature that allows users to preview various makeup looks before making a purchase. By searching for terms such as “spring makeup” or specific celebrity-inspired styles, users can access an AI-generated preview of makeup products applied to their faces. This feature, available on mobile search, enables users to tap “See the looks on you” and select “try it on” to test different makeup combinations.
AI-Generated Product Search
Google is also rolling out broader access to its generative AI product search tool. Initially launched as an experiment, the feature enables users to describe a clothing item in detail, prompting AI to generate an image of the garment and find visually similar products available for purchase. Users can access this tool via the Shopping tab by selecting the “Create & shop” option, allowing for more refined searches based on specific style preferences.
Expanded Virtual Clothing Try-On
Google’s virtual clothing try-on tool, which initially supported tops and dresses, now includes pants and skirts. Users searching for these garments can select items marked with the “try on” badge to see how they appear on models with diverse body types ranging from XXS to XXL. The updated AI model also enhances accuracy in displaying outfit lengths and styling by incorporating full-body outfit previews, including shoes and matching tops.
These updates are gradually being made available to U.S. shoppers, expanding the AI-powered shopping experience within Google’s ecosystem.
