Dubai’s push into the global gaming industry is gaining ground, with recent data revealing a significant uptick in activity since the launch of the Dubai Program for Gaming 2033 (DPG33) in late 2023. According to figures shared by Dubai Media City and the Dubai Future Foundation, the emirate now hosts more than 350 gaming-related companies, of which 260 focus specifically on game development.
This expansion marks a 16.6% increase in gaming companies since the initiative began, signaling strong momentum in the sector. More than 60 new gaming businesses have launched within just over a year, demonstrating Dubai’s ability to attract both startups and established players. While only 12% of these are large multinational firms, the majority are small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), driving innovation and creativity within the local ecosystem.

The data also shows that 67% of these companies have chosen to establish their headquarters in Dubai, underlining the city’s role as a strategic base for regional and international operations.
Launched under the direction of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the DPG33 initiative aims to position Dubai as a top global hub for gaming by 2033. The broader ambition includes creating 30,000 new jobs and contributing $1 billion to Dubai’s GDP.
The Dubai Future Foundation emphasized that the program is part of a larger economic diversification strategy, with the gaming industry identified as a high-potential driver of growth. As global gaming revenues near the $200 billion mark, Dubai’s proactive efforts are designed to ensure the city secures a meaningful share of this expanding market.
