Slack Technologies has acquired calendar app Woven for an undisclosed sum.
Founded by Tim Campos and Burc Arpat in 2016, Woven has allowed over 40 million users to schedule more than 2.2 million events in the 2+ years following its launch, Woven’s CEO Tim Campos said in a blog announcing the acquisition.
“Our mission has always been a very ambitious one. Yet as exciting as our progress has been, Burc and I decided that our pace wasn’t fast enough to achieve our mission with the current business. This is what led to the decision to discontinue Woven and to make some big changes.” Campos said.
According to a statement in its website, Woven Software will discontinue service as of May 28, 2021.
“We wish we could maintain Woven for our users whom we have so much appreciation for, but sometimes the best path forward requires a goodbye to something we love.”
Campos said.
Slack is currently in the process of being acquired by Salesforce. According to the updates shared by the two companies, Salesforce will pay $27.7 billion to buy Slack, marking it Salesforce’s largest acquisition to date.
Slack shareholders will own $26.79B in cash and 0.0776 Salesforce shares for the shares they hold.
“We are thrilled to welcome the Woven team to Slack,” Slack said in a statement. “We’re always on the lookout for top technical talent and are excited to welcome these individuals to Slack. We look forward to what we can accomplish together in Slack’s mission to make people’s working lives simpler, more pleasant and more productive.”
