Apple expands App Analytics with over 100 new metrics to sharpen app performance insights

Apple is set to introduce a significant expansion to its App Analytics tool within App Store Connect later this year, aiming to give developers and publishers a deeper look into how their apps and games are performing across the customer lifecycle. The update will include more than 100 new metrics, with a clear focus on optimizing in-app purchases, including subscriptions and special offers, while maintaining Apple’s privacy standards.

Among the most notable changes is a redesigned user interface. App Analytics will now reside directly within the “Apps” section of App Store Connect, streamlining access and navigation. The layout has been restructured to organize metrics by stages such as acquisition, monetization, and retention. Additionally, developers can now apply up to seven filters simultaneously to any metric, enabling more precise segmentation and analysis of user behavior.

Apple is also rolling out new subscription-focused metrics and reports. These include data on app download sources, helping developers track how users are discovering their apps. These reports are exportable in bulk through the Analytics API, allowing for easier integration into external reporting systems.

Another new feature is the introduction of peer group benchmarks. This allows developers to compare their monetization performance against similar apps or games on the App Store. Benchmarking metrics such as download-to-paid conversion rates and proceeds per download will be available, providing greater context for evaluating success.

The update will also bring new cohort analysis capabilities. Developers will be able to track revenue over time based on app download date or assess retention trends by analyzing cohorts of subscription users. This functionality is designed to support deeper, long-term performance assessments.

Apple has not yet confirmed a specific release date, but all enhancements are scheduled to roll out later in 2025.
