Developers reported widespread issues installing test builds on Apple devices after a problem with an Apple verification server interrupted the process required to validate locally installed apps.
The disruption affected developers attempting to deploy test versions of apps directly to their devices, as well as enterprise app installations. The issue prevented some users from running locally built software until the verification step could be completed.
When developers attempted to install apps on their devices, they encountered an error message indicating that the application could not be verified.
The notification stated: “Unable to Verify App. An Internet connection is required to verify trust of the developer. This app will not be available until verified.”
Despite the message suggesting a connectivity problem on the developer’s side, the issue appeared to stem from Apple’s verification infrastructure rather than individual network connections.
The verification process is part of Apple’s security system designed to confirm the authenticity of apps installed outside the App Store, including test builds deployed through development tools.
Reports of the problem surfaced across developer communities during the outage, including discussions on forums used by iOS developers to track platform issues.
Several developers indicated they were unable to install newly compiled builds on their devices, preventing them from testing recent code changes locally. The issue also affected enterprise distribution workflows that rely on Apple’s verification system.
During the incident, Apple’s official developer system status page did not initially indicate any service disruption.
The verification problem was later resolved, allowing developers to resume normal installation and testing of local builds.
While the interruption lasted only a limited period, it temporarily disrupted development workflows for teams relying on direct device testing, highlighting the dependence of local app deployment on Apple’s remote verification infrastructure.
