Xbox’s new Discord integration will enable Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One users to connect to Discord voice chats from their consoles, the company announced in a blog post on Wednesday. The feature is currently available to a limited number of Xbox Insiders and will expand to more users in the upcoming weeks.
In order to start a Discord voice chat with friends, you’ll need to download the Xbox app on your mobile device and connect your Xbox and Discord accounts first. You can find the QR code which will take you to the connection screen by pressing the Xbox button on your console, navigating to the Parties & chats section and then selecting the ‘Try Discord on Xbox’ option.
Once the connection is completed, you will be able to start voice-chatting with your friends while playing your favorite Xbox games, through either Xbox’s or Discord’s mobile app.
Microsoft’s rival Sony already announced a similar partnership with Discord in May last year and said the integration would be completed in 2022. However, while the company currently allows PS4 and PS5 users to link their Discord accounts and let their friends see what games they play, it still hasn’t launched the ability to access voice chats from its consoles.
