Snapchat tests ability to add NFTs as Lenses

Snapchat is reportedly getting ready to start the tests of a new feature which will let users add their NFTs into the platform as Lenses.

As reported by Financial Times, the company will ignite the tests next month with a limited number of creators, allowing them to import their NFTs created and minted on other platforms into Snapchat as Lenses.

According to the report, the company won’t charge users who want to display their NFTs on the platform, similar to Facebook, Instagram and Twitter which are also currently working on NFT features.

In January this year, Twitter started rolling out a new feature as part of its new premium subscription service, enabling users to set non-fungible tokens as profile pictures

In March, Mark Zuckerberg said NFTs were coming to Instagram. Two months after the announcement, the company started testing the ability to share NFTs in Feed, Stories and DM with limited users in the United States. Two weeks ago, Facebook also started testing a similar feature allowing users to showcase NFTs on their profiles.

Last week, Reddit announced its blockchain-backed Collectible Avatars via a new storefront.

And now, Snapchat is getting ready to take its place among the other social media companies integrating the blockchain technology into their platforms.

FT’s report arrives weeks after Snapchat launched its paid subscription service Snapchat+ for $3.99 per month. The service is currently available in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
