London-based games studio Netspeak Games announced on Wednesday that it has secured $12 million in a Series A funding round led by Lakestar and Project A.

The round, which brings the total investment the studio has raised so far up to $16 million, also saw participation from Makers Fund, CCP Games CEO Hilmar Veigar Pétursson, Jagex CEO Phil Mansel, and Kepler Interactive’s Investment Director Catherine Chew.

Netspeak Games was founded by Callum Brighting in March 2019, and its team consists of employees who previously worked at renowned companies such as EA, Playstation, King, Rockstor, Microsoft and Sega Europe.

The company said it will use the investment to grow its team and support the launch of its first title ‘Sunshine Days’.

I’m thrilled on behalf of my whole team that I get to share this funding news today,’’ said Chief Executive Officer and Founder Brighting. “Building a company during a pandemic has been a challenge – but I’m pleased to say that by being supportive, kind & continuing to prioritize our studio culture above everything else, we are now a world-class team backed by industry leading investors, ” he added.
