Nazara Technologies, a leading player in the gaming and esports sector, has taken a significant step towards global expansion by acquiring the UK-based mobile game studio Fusebox Games for $27.2 million. The acquisition aligns with Nazara’s strategic goal to build a robust, IP-driven global gaming business, leveraging its strong foundation in India.
“The Fusebox team are buzzing with anticipation as we join forces with Nazara to expand and enhance our portfolio of IP-driven games. We are confident that together we will create even more engaging and immersive experiences for our players around the world. Thank you to our incredible community for your ongoing support. Stay tuned for more updates as we embark on this exciting new chapter,” Fusebox said in a LinkedIn post.
Founded in 2016, Fusebox Games has carved a niche in the mobile gaming industry with its popular free-to-play interactive story games. The studio is best known for its hit title, Love Island, which has captivated audiences worldwide. With several other games in development that are inspired by major global television franchises, Fusebox has established itself as a key player in the interactive story genre.
Nitish Mittersain, CEO and founder of Nazara Technologies, emphasized the significant potential this acquisition brings to the company. “Our vision is to create a global gaming powerhouse by harnessing the strength of our Indian base to support studios worldwide,” said Mittersain. “We aim to enhance user acquisition strategies, employ advanced data analytics, and implement innovative live operations. Fusebox’s portfolio is a perfect fit for our strategy, and we’re excited to work alongside their talented team as we scale Nazara to new heights.”
This acquisition is part of Nazara’s broader strategy to expand its reach through mergers and acquisitions. Earlier this year, the company committed $100 million towards its growth initiatives, with a keen focus on acquiring gaming studios that can tap into the massive Indian gaming market, which boasts over 500 million gamers, as well as the lucrative North American market.
With Fusebox Games now under its umbrella, Nazara Technologies is poised to further its ambition of becoming a major player on the global gaming stage, blending its deep understanding of the Indian market with Fusebox’s creative expertise and established IPs.
