According to Techcrunch’s report, Instagram is preparing to imitate another feature of TikTok with its new feature “Vertical Stories”. The feature is under development according to Alessandra Paluzzi’s tweet. However, it is not out to the public at this time.
“This is an early prototype and is not currently testing on Instagram,” an Instagram spokesperson told Techcrunch.

Instagram would prioritize video posts over images in a “Vertical Stories” feed in order to better compete with TikTok, just as it’s currently tweaking its algorithms and overall design to prioritize Reels, Techcrunch states.
Back in January, Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, had said that he is not happy with the current situation of Instagram’s short video format ‘Reels’ and said ‘’we have to be honest that TikTok is ahead.”
The Vertical Stories feature may never actually go public but it does show that Instagram is considering features that challenge its biggest rival.
This week, Instagram has launched another long-awaited feature: Recently Deleted. With this feature, IG users will be able to view and restore their posts that they deleted in the last 30 days.
The new feature will be very helpful for users in case their accounts get hacked and hackers remove their Instagram posts.
