Mobile game developer Good Job Games has raised $23 million in a seed funding round led by Menlo Ventures and Arcadia, the new gaming investment fund founded by Tripledot co-founder Akin Babayigit. The funding marks a pivotal moment for the Türkiye-based company as it aims to scale its match-3 gaming portfolio and establish itself as a lasting force in the entertainment industry.
Founded by Ilker Ilicali and Nazim Akmandil, Good Job Games initially gained traction as a hyper-casual game developer, amassing over 3 billion downloads within its first two years. The company later shifted its focus, selling its successful title Zen Match and investing in more complex match-3 experiences such as Match Villains. The recent funding will accelerate this transition, allowing the company to refine its game development strategy and expand its global reach.
“Our journey so far has been fueled by an extraordinary team that has built our games without external investment,” said Ilker Ilicali, founder and CEO of Good Job Games. “With the support of Menlo Ventures and Arcadia, we now have the opportunity to take our portfolio to the next level, reaching even more players worldwide.”
The company, now home to over 100 developers, designers, and artists, is recognized for its emphasis on design quality and player experience. With the influx of capital, Good Job Games plans to enhance its existing titles while also exploring new concepts in the mobile gaming sector.
For Menlo Ventures, the investment reflects confidence in Good Job Games’ ability to innovate within the match-3 genre. “Match Villains stands out as one of the most refined and engaging games in its category,” said Amy Wu, a partner at Menlo Ventures. “Good Job Games has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to craftsmanship and player satisfaction.”
The investment also marks the first for Arcadia, Babayigit’s newly launched fund dedicated to supporting emerging mobile game studios. Babayigit, known for his involvement in some of Türkiye’s most successful gaming startups, sees Good Job Games as a prime example of the country’s thriving game development ecosystem.
“Good Job Games has already reshaped the match-3 space with impressive retention metrics and a clear vision for long-term success,” Babayigit noted. “This investment is just the beginning of a larger journey.”
