Electronic Arts completes $1.2 billion acquisition of Codemasters

Video game giant Electronic Arts has completed the $1.2 billion acquisition of the UK-based game publisher Codemaster.

In December, EA announced that it reached an agreement with Codemaster for $1.2 billion. The agreement was expected to close in the first quarter of 2021.

Now the company released a new blog post announcing that the acquisition has been completed and said it’s thrilled to work with Codemaster to ‘’create a powerhouse in racing entertainment’’.

‘’We’re thrilled by this new opportunity to bring you even more racing games, more often. The union also unlocks the potential for us to create new innovative ways to interact with each other and enjoy our passion for racing games together.’’ said Electronic Arts in the blog post.

‘’With the greatest minds in racing entertainment all under one roof, you’re going to see even more innovation and we’re going to bring all new ideas to life.’’

In the beginning of this month, Electronic Arts also announced that it’s getting ready to acquire US-based video game firm Glu Mobile for $2.1 billion
