NPD Group has announced the 10 best-selling games of 2022 in the US. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 surpassed Elden Ring and placed at number 1. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 topped the list all year, followed by Elden Ring, Madden NFL 23, God of War Ragnarok and Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. NPD’s Mat Piscatella predicted that Elden Ring would surpass Modern Warfare 2 to be number one in 2022, but it didn’t.
In December 2022, Modern Warfare 2 took the top place, while Pokemon Scarlet/Violet, God of War Ragnarok, Madden NFL 23, and FIFA 23 were in the top five.
Nintendo’s Pokemon Scarlet/Violet ranked sixth for the full year, while Pokemon Legends: Arceus was the eighth best-selling game of 2022 in the US. Sony’s MLB The Show 22, on the other hand, was able to rank 10th in the year, despite not including Xbox or Switch digital sales.
