Apple Releases First Developer Beta of iOS 13.3

Apple released the first developer beta of iOS 13.3 today. While the official information on the update has not yet been shared, the most important innovation that the new developer beta brought along is the ‘Communication Limits’ feature.

Apple released the final version of iOS 13.2 last week, which is now open to the public. The company, which has released all operating system versions, has also released the first developer versions of iPadOS 13.3, tvOS 13.3 and watchOS 6.1.1.

The official update notes of the releases have not yet been shared, but they are expected to focus on debugging and performance improvements of features that were specifically excluded from the previous iOS 13 releases and the ones announced at the WWDC 2019 conference.

Another highlight of the new developer version is the Communication Limits feature for parents, in addition to the Screen Duration feature. On previous versions of iOS and iPadOS, the Display Time feature included idle time, application limits, content restrictions, privacy measures, and a whitelist of allowed applications.

At the WWDC conference, Apple introduced an additional feature that would allow parents to blacklist or whitelist specific contacts for communication purposes, but it was not for iOS 13 or later operating systems. This feature, which comes with iOS 13.3, allows parents to allow the owner of the device to communicate with ‘everyone’ or certain people when Display Time is on. This activates the Contacts Only feature, preventing calls from foreign numbers.

Another feature expected to come with iOS and iPadOS 13 was iCloud folder sharing. In fact, this feature was expected to come this fall, but was later postponed to next spring. For this reason, it was suggested that the feature wouldn’t be brought along with iOS 13.3. But Apple has not shared the update notes, so there is no clear information.

If you are an Apple developer, you can easily download this update. The most important thing to be aware of at this point is to back up your phone before installing the update because unexpected errors may occur in developer beta.
